Ararat
The average summer temperature in Ararat is 24°C (75.2°F), while the winter average is 14°C (57.2°F). Relative humidity averages between 40% and 70% from summer through to winter, and average rainfall is around 601 mm (23.66 inches) a year. The mean number of clear days is highest from December through to March, while May to August produce the highest number of cloudy days.
Ballarat
The Ballarat region experiences a temperate climate with four seasons. Because of its elevation, mean monthly temperatures tend to be on average 2-3°C below those for Melbourne.
The mean daily maximum temperature for January is 24.9°C (76.82°F), while for July it is 10°C (50°F). The mean annual rainfall is 705 mm (2.77 inches), with August being the wettest month at 77 mm (3.03 inches).
Hepburn
The Hepburn region experiences a temperate climate with four seasons. Mean monthly temperatures are on average 3-4°C below those for Melbourne, due to its elevation. Light snow can also be expected in particular areas of the Shire over winter.
The mean daily maximum temperature for January is 26°C (78.8°F), while for July it is 10°C (50°F). August is typically are the wettest month at 80 mm (3.03 inches).
Moorabool
The size of Moorabool and its spread over very different elevations, topographical features and microclimates means there is a considerable difference in temperatures, wind patterns and rainfall throughout the Shire.
The mean daily maximum temperature for January is 28.7°C (83.66°F), while for July is it 14.4°C (57.92°F). August is typically the wettest month with around 12.9 raindays, with February being the dryest with 5.8 raindays.
Northern Grampians
The Grampians region encompasses a diversity of microclimates and environments and a very livable climate with four distinct climatic conditions. Average Annual Rainfall for the district is 532mm.
The average daily maximum temperature for January is 28.5°C (83.50°F), while for July is it 12°C (53.6°F). July and August are typically the wettest months with around 13.2 raindays each, with January and February being the dryest with 3.9 raindays each.
Pyrenees
Low rainfall conditions across the Pyrenees Shire have been resulted in severe drought conditions for the past 10 years. The periodical rainfall during winter and spring provides enough moisture to paint the landscape vibrant and contrasting degrees of green, making it the most picturesque time to visit the region.
In summer the landscape is more rugged and raw due to dry, hot weather conditions, but equally beautiful.
Warm days and cool nights provides the perfect conditions for grape growing and ensures the region remains well known for their exceptional wine production.
